Employee Spotlight: Steven Anderson

Also known as “Wolverine” around the office, Steven Anderson is one of the most upbeat and funny employees here at Interrail Engineering. He wears many hats here and we’re delighted to shine the employee spotlight on him today.

In 2000 Steven left his job in construction to work for Interrail Signal, Inc. Over the next 5yrs he put in hard work and gained the knowledge that would later help him transition to a position at Interrail Engineering, Inc. When his second daughter was born, Steven decided to take a job with a local builder so that he could be home with his family more. After two years back in the construction industry, he missed the railroad and considered returning to Interrail as a signalman. In 2008, Steven’s wife Jessica convinced him to try his hand as a CADD operator at Interrail Engineering. Being a very active and “hands-on” type of guy, his friends and family were skeptical about whether Steven could adapt to a desk job. Everyone quickly realized just how lucky they were to have him on the Engineering team. Not only did he adapt and excel at learning CADD, he quickly became someone that people would turn to with questions because of his field knowledge and knack for teaching in a comprehensive way. Currently, Steven is a Jr. Designer and CADD operator, designing and completing CADD work for Norfolk Southern Railway as well as CSX Transportation.

Although he does spend several hours a day behind a desk, he is still a hands on guy around the office. He is always fixing things, changing light bulbs and doing whatever needs to be done. In addition he is one of our “resident chefs” that prepares our traditional Friday breakfast every week. His coworkers say that perhaps the best thing about working with Steven is that he always has a smile on his face, ready with his quick wit to make someone laugh and brighten their day.

When he’s not working, Steven enjoys fishing, golfing, working out, cooking, watching his favorite football team (Florida Gators) and spending time with his friends and family. This October, Steven and his wife Jessica will celebrate 16yrs of marriage. They have three beautiful, confident and hilariously funny daughters that make them proud every day.

Thank you Steven for all of your hard work and years of dedication to Interrail!
